90 MINUTE SKETCH CHALLENGES

These sketches/illustrations were the result of an in-class challenge to come up with a concept, research it, and carry it through to a finished black and white illustration in under 90 minutes. The topics given for these were: Calvin and Hobbes, Avatar, Ben Grimm, AstroBoy, Usagi Yojimbo, and Dr. Manhattan. All of these were done in pencil and ink on Bristol.

This was simply an exercise I did to dable in different media back in 2003. I paused the movie randomly and drew, inked, and colored as fast as I could with no concern for perfection. Later I took some of them into Adobe Photoshop and colored them digitally. This was a lot of fun and I learned a lot. Some day I may do more.
